Accessibility Information

Accessibility is a core value of the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council (GPAC), and we provide a wide array of accommodations to allow everyone to fully participate in our programs, and are continually striving to evolve and improve accommodations.

GPAC recognizes that each person is an individual and that each individual benefits from accommodations uniquely suited to their abilities. We welcome you to contact us with phone calls and emails that allow us to provide the best access possible to our events and programs – please describe any accommodation that helps your participation. If you have any questions about the accommodations listed below, please contact Anne Mulgrave, 412.391.2060 x238.

For participants with mobility disabilities

The entrance to the GPAC office located at 810 Penn Avenue is wheelchair accessible and has a power assist door which allows visitors to pull the door open with less force. Smaller, old style elevators bring visitors to GPAC’s offices on the sixth floor and our event space, The Big Room, on the seventh floor. GPAC staff are happy to provide curb to seat assistance navigating the downstairs door and elevators for anyone who would like some support. We ask that you let us know the day before you are visiting if you would like assistance. Someone will meet you at the door to the building.
Fully accessible restrooms are available adjacent to The Big Room on the seventh floor. Each restroom within GPAC’s sixth floor office space contains a large stall with appropriate grab bars however, the large stall in the men’s restroom may not accommodate larger motorized scooters or wheelchairs. Some male visitors may prefer to use the restrooms serving The Big Room on the seventh floor.
Please request wheelchair seating when registering for any program.
For participants who are blind or have low vision
Materials for all GPAC events and meetings are available in large print or digital formats.
GPAC is pleased to provide Audio Description services for select programming but we ask that you request this service two weeks in advance.
GPAC staff will gladly greet participants to provide curb to seat service if you let us know the day before that you would like someone to meet you at the door of the building and when you will arrive.
