Celebrating Over 4 Decades of Community Interactive Mentoring through Music
Dr. Jacqueline L. Young is a Pittsburgh native. She graduated from Wilkinsburg High School; received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh; received a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Barry University in Miami, FL; and a PhD from Capella University,
in the Philosophy of Human Services, specializing in Counseling Studies.
Dr. Young currently holds the SARC (Sexual Assault Response Coordinator) position, and single point of contact, for the 911th Airlift Wing. She has worked part time as a Mobile Therapist for children.
She had gained extensive experience in the field of human services for the Veterans Administration in Pittsburgh, and West Palm Beach, Florida.
She is passionate about contributing to society, especially creating a positive environment for youth and adults to continue to learn and develop.
While acquiring her PhD, Dr. Young’s dissertation was based on research in the area of the efficacy of music mentoring as a methodology for contributing to youth and young adults in self-esteem. Her role of Executive Director of the Jazz Workshop Inc. certainly fulfills that role.
