Developed in response to the articulated needs of the Latinx workforce and the historic undercapitalization of our field, the NALAC Fund for the Arts (NFA) was cultivated by a national coalition of advisors including artists, organizers, funders and leaders. In 2005, a catalytic partnership with the Ford Foundation launched the NALAC Fund for the Arts as a proof of concept for the viability of supporting Latinx cultural production in the United States and Puerto Rico. Since then, NALAC grant programs have awarded almost $3 million to Latinx artists and organizations in the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Central America.
Now entering its 14th year, the NFA continues to provide critical financial resources to Latinx creative and cultural practitioners working at the forefront of social change through the arts. We believe in the innate skill of Latinx artists to work with communities to dream, imagine and co-create concepts of justice that are not rooted in the limitations of the here and now but in the endless potential of the future. We invest in their professional capacities and growth.
