Things to Know:
Artwork is accepted by all artists with a self-identified developmental disability.
Each artist may submit up to 8 pieces for consideration.
The submission deadline is August 16, 2020.
Artists will be notified of the jury’s selections by September 1, 2020.
Selected artists are responsible for dropping off their work at one of the following times:
Wednesday, September 9th from 6-8
Sunday, September 13th from 1-3
Alternatively, selected artwork can be mailed to the gallery.
The Evening of the Arts fundraiser will take a commission of 50% for artwork that is sold during the show. Please consider this commission (which is typical of most galleries) when choosing your sale price.
As you consider what pieces you’d like to submit, we encourage you to think about what, if anything, has inspired you during this time of isolation. Did social distancing inspire you to create new art this year, or give you the opportunity to try something new?
When selecting pieces for the show, art will be evaluated on the following aspects:
Professional Quality (neatness and craftsmanship will be considered)
Interesting/unique use of media
Creativity and originality
Quality of artistic composition and overall design
Adherence to the suggested theme “creativity while social distancing”
This year, jurors a.drift arguello and Robert Roma, two Pittsburgh-based Autistic artists, will review and score your submissions to determine which pieces will be in the show. A bit more about the artists:
a.drift arguello is an abstract painter, with a constant drive to create. Working with found materials, her pieces are an expression of her inner dialog and processing of the world. She is originally from the midwest.
Robert Roma attended Glasgow School of Art to read Fine Art, and Cumbria Institute of Art, and did post-graduate work in Photography and Film Studies at University of Derby. He has 25+ years of making and exhibiting fine art in Europe and North America. Robert also has 25+ years of filmmaking experience as an actor, writer, director, assistant director, lighting, and art department in projects from Europe to North America.
